Semiahmoo Resort Wedding

February 10, 2011 Weddings

Rachel and Will held their wedding at the Semiahmoo Resort and their reception at the nearby Semiahmoo Golf and Country clubhouse. Their wedding day weather was perfect- sun, blue skies and a nice breeze. Rachel and her girls began their day with hair and makeup at the Semiahmoo Spa while Will took in some football with the guys in their resort suite. Later in the day, everyone gathered on the large patio only several feet from the beach to the north of the resort. At the conclusion of the ceremony, and after brief family photos inside, we had some time with the two of them around the grounds but then let them catch a breather on the main lobby couch which I photographed (discretely) before moving to the reception site

Wild Rose Wedding

Several weeks prior to Christine’s wedding, we met at the Wild Rose near Arlington, WA to walk the grounds and bounce ideas of each other. I knew the moment we arrived that this would be a great place to have a wedding. The main home on the property, used by the wedding party for preparations, is surrounded by a variety of colorful flowers, a waterfall, a concret pad for the reception and a large lawn for the ceremony which has a great view of the valley.

When we arrived on their wedding day, we were treated to a sun halo over the home. Christine and her girls were beginning their makeup upstairs and the guys gathered in the smaller room downstairs. We setup the “first look” to happen out on the back patio while the bridal party witnessed from above on the balcony. After portraits and rest, Christine entered the ceremony from the back patio and we got some great shots both from above and below (it’s so nice to have dual photographers!)

Washington Park Arboretum Wedding

Joel and I met back in 2001 when I began working in a research lab at the University of Washington. While he was in San Diego for work several years later, he met Katie, they moved back to Seattle and married each other under a large tree in the Washington Park Arboretum on August 7th, 2010. Although I was invited as a guest- they hired my 2nd photographer, Leah Chambers, to cover the ceremony- I couldn’t resist photographing his wedding from my perspective.

That day, next to the pond, I stood among their family and friends, many from France, as Joel and Katie entered the ceremony together, a rather nice touch. The large tree at the ceremony site protected everyone from the light rain that day. The backdrop to their vows was a small pond complete with water lilies. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the guests were treated to light fare and then were led in walk around the arboretum. They chose to have their reception dinner at the Portage Bay Cafe later that day. Congratulations Joel and Katie!

Annie and Jason explore the Bellevue Botanical Gardens on our fun engagement shoot. We shot in the Japanese Garden loop, by the awesome waterfall and near the alpine rock garden.

Seattle Center and EMP, Seattle, WA

The Seattle Center is an amazing space complete with the Experience Music Project (Seattlites call it the EMP) and the famous Space Needle. Other nice attractions are the monorail built back in the 60′s for the World’s Fair and the International Fountain which is programmed to perform water aerobics to music.

We started our session at McCaw Hall which has a cool surface fountain that gradually sloped down. I asked Karie and Brad to take a stroll in the water and they even took their pug in with them for some shots. To the south, we spent some time at the International Fountain then on to the EMP for shots of the vibrant pink/red/orange metallic skin of the building.

Bellevue Club Wedding

We take pride in telling the whole wedding day story which means, if our clients desire, we start photographing when the bride begins with her makeup and hair in the morning. On this day, the 23rd of October, 2010, we met Annie and her maid-of-honor at The Gene Juarez Salon in Bellevue to begin documenting the process. Next, we traveled south to the Bellevue Club where she donned her dress and tapped Jason on the shoulder in their “first look” moment at the entrance of the club.

Fairmont Olympic Hotel Wedding

Our team met up with Kaitlin early in the morning at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel as she began the process of becoming a beautiful bride. The groom and his men arrived several hours later and had a separate room a few floors up. At noon, the “first look” unfolded as Kaitlin exited the elevator into Derek’s arms as her bridal party cheered.

Kerry Park Surprise Proposal Film

A few months after filming our first engagement film and two wedding films, I was asked to film a surprise proposal in Seattle. The couple were from upstate New York and brother to a good friend of mine. They’ve been to Seattle several times and we decided together that Kerry Park would make for a wonderful location.
