Sam & Smriti

Woodland Park Zoo Indian and Scottish Wedding

March 10, 2011

Sam is another great friend I met while working in a research lab at the UW several years ago. He’s passionate about soccer and that’s where he met Smriti. Everything clicked and they became inseparable (I know this from personal experience!).

Their wedding was held at Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo on June 17th, 2006. This venue fit one of their wedding venue requirements- open flame! They set up and decorated a tent just outside of the main food pavilion and guests gathered around for the colorful, lengthy ceremony.

Joel & Katie

Washington Park Arboretum Wedding

February 6, 2011
Thumbnail image for Joel & Katie

Joel and I met back in 2001 when I began working in a research lab at the University of Washington. While he was in San Diego for work several years later, he met Katie, they moved back to Seattle and  married each other under a large tree in the Washington Park Arboretum on August 7th, 2010. Although I was invited as a guest- they hired my 2nd photographer, Leah Chambers, to cover the ceremony- I couldn’t resist photographing his wedding from my perspective.

That day, next to the pond, I stood among their family and friends, many from France, as Joel and Katie entered the ceremony together, a rather nice touch. The large tree at the ceremony site protected everyone from the light rain that day. The backdrop to their vows was a small pond complete with water lilies. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the guests were treated to light fare and then were led in walk around the arboretum. They chose to have their reception dinner at the Portage Bay Cafe later that day. Congratulations Joel and Katie!
